Audition Workshop
Saturdays, APRIL 29 & MAY 6, 2017. 12:00p-3:00p
First Presbyterian Church, 314 Xenia Ave

Grades 3 & up for full cast, small chorus options for grades 1 & up

Participants only need to attend one day.  Parents should plan on staying for a brief parent meeting at the beginning of the audition workshop.

YSKP is dedicated to a non-traditional, fun audition process. Our auditions take place as a group workshop and include a warm-up, exercises, and theater games.  Participants are given a chance to sing a song and share a story.
Please prepare a short story based on the moon, a myth, or scientific discovery and a chorus or verse of a song.  It’s important to bring any conflicts to rehearsal.

Our 2017 musical will be Luminous Luna: Myth and Imagination.  Our 23rd summer musical, written by Luke Dennis, directed by Ara G. Beal and Melissa Heston, will explore the human fascination with the moon through the retelling of myth and scientific discovery. Performances are June 22-July 2, 2017 on Antioch’s campus. Rehearsals will begin May 8th.

For a sense of the rehearsal schedule, check out our Google Calendar, which we’ll update with specifics as we move into rehearsals.

Full cast participant fee $200
Small chorus participant fee $100
Scholarships are available, no interested kid is ever turned away due to inability to pay.

About YSKP

2017 marks YSKP’s twenty-third summer producing original musical theatre for youth. Founded in 1995 by John Fleming, the company has committed itself to providing unique performing opportunities for area kids. Actors in YSKP’s shows have an opportunity to create a role. They learn skills related to singing, dancing, character building, and mime. Participants also exercise their ability to work collaboratively, take responsibility, and think on their feet. They increase their confidence and creativity.
