YS Kids Playhouse again supported by the Ohio Arts Council
[Yellow Springs]—The Ohio Arts Council was created in 1965 to foster and encourage the development of the arts and assist the preservation of Ohio’s cultural heritage. With funds from the Ohio Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts, the OAC provides financial assistance to artists and arts organizations. On July 20, the OAC announced awards for its 2017-18 fiscal year, including two awards, totally $16,816, to YS Kids Playhouse. Together with 5 other local organizations, over $45,000 was awarded to Yellow Springs arts non-profits by the OAC.
The Ohio Arts Council will again support YSKP’s annual summer musical through their Arts Partnership program. The Arts Partnership program supports arts education projects that address the needs of individual learners and their communities. Grant recipients engage in collaborative planning with partners, emphasize in-depth study of the arts, and use arts learning outcomes and standards-based arts education practices. YSKP was awarded $11,734 with this grant. The Playhouse also continues to receive operating support from the OAC; $5,082 for 2017-18.
“YS Kids Playhouse is honored to again be recognized by the OAC. Their ongoing support of a small organization like ours is vital to our success and sustainability. We hope that the resources of the Ohio Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts continue to be available to those making arts happen in our state.” commented YSKP’s managing artistic director, Ara G. Beal.
Details on the 2018 season will be announced to the public in March of 2018.
